Getting Better and Smaller And Smaller Circles

Getting Better a romantic-comedy story for people who give there "all" to someone they really really love. Yes, it's true that when you love, you should give all you have.. but not your life. I mean giving him/her the time and whatever stuffs, but remember you are not giving your life for that person and your not living for him/her. Like in the story, Karen who has a boyfriend named Miko. Let's say Karen was like Miko's pet. She let's Miko yell at her, Miko was her boss all the time. Everytime Karen wants this stuff miko will decide for her. It looks like her life is revolving with Miko. She even caught Miko having sex with another girl but she chose to have sex with him after that incident, and that's what i don't get. (Why would you have sex with that person if you already caught him cheating on you? )Until they broke up. The funny thing about the story was the number of ways on how she moved on. I was laughing when i read that part, actually some of the ways that was metioned in the story was the things i did before! hahaha. The most craziest thing was the dates she went through with 3 or 4 guys. hehehe =)

But at the end of the story karen finds her true love with Bert. She didn't only found a companion, but a guy who will love her the way she deserves to be.

Smaller and Smaller Circles a nightmare! hahaha! (for me!) I don't wanna tell the whole story here. It's a freakin', crazy story! Why? There was a murder in the story in which he kills kids. why does he kill kids? it's from his past experience from his p.e. teacher. It's so creepy imagining the way he killed the children and the dead bodies in trash.

Trauma is such a big psychological problem! creepy!

generations

the story is about a girl who shows courage to get his dad out of the jail. she did eveyrthing for the freedom of his dad, even her virginity. but his dad didn't appreciate it. the setting of the story in the time were there is a curfew and many military mens are moving around to check if there are some people were outside of theire houses. so at the end of the story, the girl shows a revenge to her dad. she killed her dad because she thought that the crime that happen to her will happen again if her dad will get caught again. so she killed her dad to stopped what has happen to her.

document and the tale of the spinster and peter pan

document. i really like this story it's cool! haha! becuase the guy here was curious about the girl's documents so he read and read it and at the end he found out that there was a daocument that really strucks him and he's very disturb when he read it.

the tale of the spinster and peterpan. in this story it did really prove that fantasies are fanatasies, and it will never happen in real life. becuase the spinster here assumed that the guy he saw from the bar was peter pan then after that she found out that it was all illusion of her mind.

one thing i can say, our minds can have so many illusions, we just have to careful.

magnificence and games

magnificence. the story of a mom were there was a bus driver who is very kind to he kids (a girl and a boy). then one day the bus driver came in their house and sits in their living room while the kids were studying at some point the bus driver let the girl sit on his lap and the mother saw it she saw something wrong about her daughter and for her its disturbing. so she asked her children to go upstairs and she talked to the bus driver. after that she washes her daughter at told her she's new that it won't happen again.

games.this story is about a couple whose playing with each other. actually the girl here was the one whose playing around with his boyfriend.she's texting his boyfriend with different numbers and different names. because she's fishing her boyfriend if it is a chicker. and the end of the story the split up.

from the story, one thing sticked on my mind "TRUST". in magnificence, you should not trust someone you really don't know. in games, trust your boyfriend/girlfriend it is a big factor to have a trust with someone you really love.

Love in the Cornhusks and The Corral

Love in the cornhusks. the story is about a woman who married a man that he doesn't love but love her so much. she regret it because she's still in love with his past.

The Corral. the story is also about a woman who has two suitors. the first man is about of his age, doesn't have an enough money to survive. the other guy is older than her, but a has a lot of money to survive. she chose the older guy because at their time woman don't have the power to work, to get a job of their own. women before were dependent on their husbands.

so what is the difference of women before and now? a BIG difference. as what the story "the Corral" shows, women before doesn't have their freedom. freemdom in what they want, in clothing, in everything. women before doesn't have any big role in our society. women before were just a "house wife" that's it. but women right now have their freedom. freedom to choose their job, freedom in clothin and being in fashion, in everthing that man does, women can do. also women have a big role in our society, as you can see our president in our country is a female. so there's really a big difference of women before and today.

Bread of Salt and The Summer Solstice

the story of bread of salt is about the kid who is in love with Aida. the boy somewaht change his attitudes. he prepares himfself to be likable, presentalbe, appreciated, etc. but at the end of the story he realize that being himself is the best thing.

kids, doesn't really know how the meaning of real love.

next summer soltice, a story about a feast. that every time they have this St. John’s feast girls dance in streets and Doña Lupeng got the attention of the girls who were dancing. she was aking herself how come she didn't dance in that feast. she also has a confusion in her mind on how his husband and her husband's nephew treated her.

when it comes to love, you don't have to beautiful to be "adore" nor love.. it's your inner beauty..

tough times...

The two stories made by Francisco Arcellana were The Mats and Divide by two. Both of the stories has a connection from this blog title "tough times" beacuse tough times is there similarities. Both stories had this tough times in the story The Mats, it has showed when the father and mother had this fought about their daughters who died. While in the story Divide by two it showed when Belle's husband thought that she is having an affiar with their neighbor. Though both of the stories had this tough time that really comes in a persons life, it ended up good and solved.

In the story The Mats, I noticed that the father showed care for his family. He brought them mats for everyone. He is an emotional man. Since the setting of the story was in the early times family valued everything they have.

Divide by two, Belle was arguing with his husband about their neighbor. Then her husband thought that maybe Belle has a relationship with the other guy who happens to be thier neighbor. But at the end of the story Belle chose her husband.

Family comes first..

When i read the title of the story Father goes to court.. -Carlos Bulosan I first thought that the father in the story was a criminal, but he is not. The two family in the story were the poor family and the rich family. I'm so amazed how Carlos Bulosan wrote the story. I'm thinking if there's really a family who can say "Laugther was our only wealth.. " While reading the story i was really glad about the father treated the situation they are going through. He was very calm on talking to the other man, while the other man is full of anger. I mean most of the guys now have this huge "pride". The story showed me two points..

1. first, it showed me that the man in the family or the father do anything for his wife, children even at the end of his life, he will still fight for it.
2. second, it showed me that in life money, power, fame is not the primary thing that we need in our life. It is our family who will always be there for us. There love, care and support will give us happiness that is very important spice in our life. =)

Next story is, How my brother Leon brought home a wife.. - Manuel E. Arguilla In the story it showed how Leon introduced his wife to his family. It shows that we filipinos should do pamamanhikan (which is one of our many pamahiins) first before we brought home our half-to-be. Our family should be the first people who will know tour getting married.

So relating my title from what i wrote, for me family should really come first in everything we do. Filipino family will always help a ech other. Except for some families nowadays who's parents and other family members were in to drugs. I mean people who are under the influenced of drugs cannot give a hand to help, instead, they should be.
